Message from the Headteacher

Abbey Gate Prep School was founded in 1910 and continues to educate children to the highest possible standard. At Abbey Gate we create an environment where our children are stimulated, challenged and motivated to learn, encouraging them to achieve beyond expectations. We build confidence and promote effort and pride in what they do, by celebrating and rewarding every achievement and giving all children a taste of success. 

As a school founded on Christian principles, we strive to create an ethos of trust, respect and care for each other and by keeping our numbers small we are able to know and value each and every individual. We are proud of our 100 year old history, but we are a forward-looking school, embracing new educational ideas and technology, taking care of our environment and taking our place within the wider community.

Being located near to many outstanding Independent and grammar secondary schools is an additional benefit of our school. We are dedicated to ensuring our children succeed with their 11+ examinations, without undue pressure. Last year, without exception, every Year 6 child achieved success and left our school as well motivated, confident individuals with the skills to support them on the road to high achievement.

 Parents have an essential role to play and are very welcome in school. We view a child's education as a partnership between us, and our open-door policy makes parents and the wider family very welcome.
