Message from the Headteacher
Welcome to our school.
Abbey Gate is a very friendly, happy school with a prevailing family atmosphere. We know that every child is unique, with his/her own strengths and weaknesses that must be recognised and appreciated. A secure and happy child will have a positive outlook and want to learn.
What values will you look for when choosing a school for your children?
We believe that you will want them to be educated to the highest possible standard, to be stimulated, challenged and motivated to learn. You will want them to be valued for themselves and to be happy and fulfilled, and you will want them to gain a place at your choice of secondary school and be well prepared to take their place there as confident and responsible young people.
As a school founded on Christian principles, we strive to create an ethos of trust, respect and care for each other and by keeping our numbers small we are able to know and value each and every individual.
We build confidence and encourage effort and pride in what they do, by celebrating and rewarding every little achievement and giving all children a taste of success.
Parents have an essential role to play and are very welcome in school. We view a child's education as a partnership between us, and our open-door policy is much appreciated.
We are proud of our 100 year old history, but we are a forward-looking school, embracing new educational ideas and technology, taking care of our environment and taking our place within the wider community, and we are proud of what we achieve.
In our most recent ISI inspection (October 2010), the inspectors said this of us:
"It is a school where smiles and laughter are a regular part of school life."
"The development of pupils as individuals during their time at the school is outstanding. It is supported by positive relationships at all levels and amongst all members of the community: this is a school where everyone cares about each other."
"The quality of the pupil's achievements and of their learning, attitudes and skills is excellent.
"Pastoral care is excellent and pupils' welfare, health and safety are assured."
Why not come and visit us and see for yourself?
