Activities
Throughout the year there are opportunities for children to take part in varied activities both in and out of school.
We encourage links with the local community by working to support both local and global charities. From time to time local residents are invited into school to attend performances and the children always enjoys performing in venues outside school.



Other activities include
regular excursions to places of interest
field trips for Geography, Science or History
theatre visits
participation in festivals for music, drama or dance and sporting fixtures
activity/adventure weekends
art and craft days
in-school workshops
activity days involving the local community
There are excellent facilities for sport within a five minute walk from school for football, rounders, tennis and athletics, and the training pool at the local leisure centre is used for swimming.Gymnastics and netball take place on site. Football and netball teams play regular matches against other schools and take part in inter-school tournaments.
Music and Drama play a very important role in the life of the school. Children are encouraged to become involved and to take part in regular performances of the choir and orchestra, both in the school and the local community. This fosters a sense of responsibility, commitment and co-operation as well as providing a great deal of fun and enjoyment.
All children from Year 3 upwards learn to play the recorder and many also decide to learn a second instrument. Tuition is offered in piano, guitar, brass and violin and children are prepared for the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Speech and Drama lessons are very popular and children are able to participate in local festivals giving them an opportunity to perform in public, to watch performances by other children and to learn from the expertise of the experienced and sympathetic adjudicators.
Ballet is offered to children from the age of 3 years and is taught to examination standard.
A Country Dance Club is open to the older children and they regularly take part in country dance festivals throughout the North West.
We believe that music, drama and dance are great confidence builders and we are proud of the high standards we achieve and the reputation we have built.
